Visit from Bima

Kathy Brown from BIMA came to visit our group in preparation for Get Online Week - we hope to launch some of our marketing materials in time for this to boost our local group. We have also recruited another 6 students who are taking on some of the teaching as we are busy planning our support website and have been asked to speak at the SSAT Regional Conference next month, so there is lots for us all to do.

OH NO!

Just when we had got everything ready, the bbc phoned to say they would have to cancel for now as something else had cropped up that they had to schedule in. Our elderly students are still hoping for their moment in the spotlight so we hope to rearrange the date later in the year.

bbc filming goes ahead

We've all been talking to the bbc, our older students as well. They have asked Robin to be their would be silver surfer for the piece talking about the barriers he faced trying to get connected with the Internet and learn the necessary skills. Then they will be coming to school to film our session to show how Internet Rangers have helped support Robin and other older members of the community. It is really exciting because to be recognised by the bbc as a group that is helping to remove the barriers that people face when trying to be a part of the digital world is quite something. All our teachers are really impressed and our lovely students are amazed that they will be a part of it - to them the bbc is something very impressive, so they are really proud to be involved.
